A Journey of Passion and Dedication

Charlie's journey in the carpentry trade began at the age of 17 when he enrolled in Otley College to study site carpentry. Excelling in his studies, he earned a Level 1 diploma with distinctions, catching the attention of Crest Nicholson, who offered him an apprenticeship in Stowmarket through a building association.

Mastering the Art of Carpentry

During his apprenticeship, Charlie honed his skills in various aspects of carpentry, from roofs and staircases to stud walls, windows, and doors. After a year, he obtained his NVQ Level 2 in site carpentry. He then joined BAJco, a successful bench joinery and cabinet-making company in Brandon.

Craftsmanship and Attention to Detail

At BAJco, Charlie's talents flourished as he completed his NVQ Level 2 in bench joinery, crafting doors, windows, and staircases. He even traveled across the country to install the items he had made. Unfortunately, the company later liquidated, leaving Charlie in search of another place to complete his apprenticeship.

Founding "East Anglia Carpentry"

He eventually found an opportunity with Suffolk Carpentry, working alongside Phil Ross for five years. While Phil was a skilled carpenter, Charlie felt that he was outgrowing the role and desired to take on more challenges. Eventually, he made the bold decision to venture out on his own, starting "East Anglia Carpentry."

Embracing Family Heritage

With a wealth of experience and knowledge gained from his apprenticeships and years of working with Phil, Charlie was well-prepared to establish his own business. He embraced the opportunity to put his skills to the test, realising that the journey had not only honed his craftsmanship but also shaped his vision for "East Anglia Carpentry."

Preserving Suffolk's Architectural Heritage

Charlie's passion for carpentry was deeply rooted in his family's history, with several generations of carpenters preceding him. Though he didn't have the chance to learn directly from his father, he acknowledged the influence of his family's carpentry background, making the trade feel like a family legacy.
